I recently heard a radio ad promoting a local car dealership using the voice recreation of Paul Harvey by a professional voice over talent. I wondered if it could be Paul Harvey Junior but felt like it probably was not because he did not identify himself in the ad.

The sound alike voice over artist also used simular terms that Paul Harvey made famous in his legendary news broadcast.

There was no mention of Paul Harvey or disclaimer in the commercial but listening to the ad most anyone would know this was Paul Harvey or his son although senior is deceased.

The commercial may have been licensed by the Paul Harvey estate but if it was not my question is this legal?

Looking for info on the exact process for using Protools for voiceover. Setting up a track, getting correct levels, mixing/editing and setting correct compression. In layman\'s terms. Not prolific with this program and have really never done any recording in the past.What\'s the most simple to getting a good recording done. Also adding sound efx and musical background.
Thanks.

I am resarching voice acting and Im just here to say your videos really helped my questions about angents, in fact I have memorized what and what not to do.
(I am 11 years of age currently)I have been on the internet and watched a series of 4 episodes called "Adventures in Voice Acting",it's more specific though. It's mainly for cartoons & anime(Which is how I got into the idea of voice acting.)
If you would like, on Youtube my account it Temarigirl160 and my recent Uploads (they are not impressions like some people do,I honestly acted in these parts) theres my "Rukia fandub auditions". If you could just check to see if I have a good head start at my age by looking at my video I'd be much more than happy.

Hey Damon.... Thanks for the good words (please spread the word!) It's good to see that you are taking the necessary steps to becoming a great Voice Actor, by getting training and coaching. (Unfortunately, my Voice Over Success Formula Training and Coaching sold out so fast, or I'd definitely recommend that! A new, updated version is hitting the market soon...keep checking back and be sure to sign up for the newsletter to get the latest.)

As for finding quality coaching in your area, there is good news and there is bad news. Good news: You're in LA where there are a LOT of great acting coaches....Bad News: You're in LA where there are a LOT of BAD coaches and scam artists. If you can't wait weeks/month for my training to open up again, (blatant plug for my coaching! haha) I would strongly suggest that you jump on as many VO bulletin boards and sites you can find to get feedback from people who have taken classes in the area. Personal experience and work of mouth are the best.

A great bulletin board for Voice Actors (and a lot of pros that live in LA) is: http://www.vo-bb.com Get on that board and explain your situation and ask for advice in your particular market of LA. Everyone on this board is a real pro...be courteous and respectful of everyone there, since you could very well be working with/for one of them in the future.

Sorry I couldn't give absolute specifics, but since I've never taken classes in the LA area, I don't want to give advice on something I'm not absolutely sure of. But, I hope the link above gets you moving in the right direction! Good luck...Let me know how it's going. (and again...keep an eye on this site and sign up for the newsletter for new courses and training coming up here.)

Take care!
