Be Comfortable in your Pajamas and with Your Own Voice

October 20th, 2009

Kriste Bell costars with Vince Vaughn in “Couples Retreat,” which was recently No. 1 in its first week at the box office. She also has a conflict….between her and ….her voice! “I can’t even hear it on an answering machine. I throw the phone across the room. It’s too high-pitched. I hear it all day, every day, so I’m over it,” Bell, 29, shared during a recent USA Today interview about her voice acting in Astro Boy. Bell lends her upbeat energetic voice to leading character Cora. She also apparently records in her pajamas!

The actress says voice insecurities are tied to her Michigan accent. When any friends from her hometown are around, the accent rears it heavy accented vowels! “I think it’s something that everyone suffers from,” she says in an exaggerated nasal tone. “But I’m very comfortable inside the voice-over booth, you know, I was able to create a much more sultry sassy character with Gossip Girl, and OK, I like working in the voice-over booth,” she finally concedes. “OK. Yes. I want to get every voice-over job there is.”
